The article refers MediaCodeSpeedEdit which seems risky, since resulting DVDs (as reported in Result thread) may be incompatible with other DVD players. I just wish for everything to be normal, fine and dandy, where Write/Read speed works exactly as I instructed, without such hack. Anyway, Discovery mode works fine, but usual read/write DVDs still encounter this slowdown problem.

Hello, this is my first post. I'd like to report classic issue where your read/burn speed drop suddenly one day (to just average 2.0x) and never gets properly fixed, which people at various forums blame on Windows XP DMA/PIO or driver. But I have tried a lot of stuff based on Google search and they still don't fix my problems. I have: 1. Reformatted my Windows XP SP2, reinstall imgburn after basic drivers, reattempt to burn/read. Still 2x slow. 2. Switch PIO to DMA, reset DMA using imgburn, or use resetdma.vbs and reboot over and over. Nothing. http://i.imgur.com/JxdRL.jpg 3. Set priority of imgburn to High or Real Time. Nothing. 4. Uninstall-reboot and update-reboot my DVD-RW ROM's driver to newest version (Pioneer DVR112 v1.28). Nothing. 5. Uninstalled NVIDIA controller driver and virtual drive Daemon and get rid of SPTD driver because it's theorized to slow your drive. Nothing. For media I use maxell 1-16x speed which I have been using for years and always reliable, up to this point? I use tried using Nero as well, which is usually reliable but now as slow.
