  1. Looks like you have been busy with other questions and answers and my question thread got buried.

In my driver list dump, above, is there anything that would make ImgBurn quit when reading/verifying a CD disc.... someone at another forum said DVD43 might affect ImgBurn. "DVD43" on my computer is really "DVD region free and CSS free" which I need to remove region code from DVD burns, it can also remove some CD protection schemes.

If it will / does effect it will that be the same with newer programs that do a similar function?

As originally stated, this quitting only happens when reading a CD disc.

    Thanks again for your time.

  2. I see...

I noticed in your FAQ's that you prefer +R to using -R, I always thought that -R were supposed to be more compatible with standalone players. Not a trick question, I know you know the workings of DVD's and wanted to gain some of your knowledge.

  3. JVC sell DVD+R X16, made by Taiyo Yuden in Japan (YUDEN000 T03)

If you switch to DVD-R X16, JVC sell(TYG03), made by Taiyo Yuden in Japan. They come in regular or "Archival" - scratch proof

JVC also do some good CD's also made by Taiyo Yuden.

I used to use Verbatim DVD-R when they were Taiyo and coded TYG03, once they change to MCC004, I just looked for other brands that were coded TYG03.

  4. I would rather make my own mind up, not be told what to use or not use.

If you like the way ImgBurn worked for you, then keep using it... if not then find something else

As has been said on here many times, you can make one "click" at install time and the Ask toolbar does NOT get installed.... "F$$$$$$ Ask toolbar $$$$" problem no longer a problem.

...and using your very good software, then get rid of that fucking Ask Toolbar shit!

The community I now post in has been told to drop Imgburn for another equally useful burner. So if you want to earn pennies from clicks you know what you must do.

The absolute minimum is to unselect all the options by default.

Anything less, and it's bye-bye Imgburn.

    Your reputation is at stake.

  5. If your using PATA drives, then there is little choice now

Samsung SH-S222 drives get the thumbs up from most people, but I'm sure people on here will tell you which to get the "A" or "L" version

Pioneer A18L is available, but it was the first pioneer dvd drive sub'd out for design and build, uses a different chip set to other Pioneer drives. On a personal level, my Pioneer A18L was slower then the DVR112 and fell apart at Christmas when by mistake it wrote to a dvd disc at full speed (22X)

    If you can use SATA

Samsung SH223 and LG GH22NS20 which is slightly better then the newer version (GH22NS50)get thumbs up

Both these drives can be found for less then £14

  7. Sorry for the delay in replying.

Yes, the same happens when XP is booted up in safe mode.

It happens with "shop bought" audio CD's, audio CD's made from mp3 files and burnt with Nero and also audio CD's made on an old Mac G4 system using a Yamaha CRW-F1 external writer and Toast burning software.

I don't know if this will help, up till Christmas I was using a Pioneer A18L PATA burner and that worked with ImgBurn 2.5.2.0 when burning DTS CD "bin & cue" files. Unfortunately It burnt a DVD at full speed and never worked again (it fell apart and rattled.) It's only since I installed the SATA LG drive that the program started to quit.

I tried uninstalling ImgBurn via the control panel, rebooting, running CCleaner to clean the registry, then installing 2.5.4.0 and then the same for 2.5.5.0

    Thanks again for your time.

  8. When I try and use ImgBurn to either verify of create an image (cue & bin) file of an unprotected audio cd, the program quits.

I can see that the log file says that the TOC is being looked at, then a split second later the program has quit.

This happens with 2.5.4.0 and 2.5.5.0

If I replace the audio cd with a video dvd, everything seems to work ok.

Do I have to make any alterations in the default setup files?

Below is the short list of information ImgBurn produces as the program is run:-

    21:18:41 ImgBurn version 2.5.4.0 started

21:18:41 Microsoft xp pro (5.1 build 2600 service pack 3)

21:18:41 Total physical memory 3,407,084 KB - available 2,813,072 KB

    21:18:41 Initialising SPTI...

21:18:41 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices

    21:18:41 Drive 1 - info HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS50 TN03 (D: ) (ATA)

    21:18:41 Found 1 DVDRW/RAM

Thanks in advance, for any replies.
