  1. Our buffers are completely emptying, momentarily slowing the burn so that it never quite reaches it's potential. There's no excuse for sticking slow / small buffer memory in drives of this nature, especially from a company like Sony. Thank god for BurnProof, and I stand by my "annoying"!
  2. You're not alone, see my thread from a week or two ago - Buffer Underruns Like you I just have to accept that this is the normal functionality of the writer. Annoying though!
  3. I guess so. At the end of the day, the disks are verifying OK so no harm done. I am getting the odd power calibration error at finalisation stage, but this I am putting down to media. Guess I'll have to put up with icicles dangling off my graphs! Cheers for the help.

  5. Already done Nah, I chose not to save them, I'll get one posted from my next burn.
  6. Hi, I'm using an Optiarc 5260s, SATA - UDMA mode 6, to burn data from a storage HD on IDE also UDMA mode 6. (I would use my SATA HD, but it won't go beyond UDMA mode 5 and is annoyingly and inexplicably slower.) As you can see from the graphs I'm getting device buffer underruns regularly causing slowdowns throughout the burn, even at low speeds - the program buffer doesn't move a nanometer and I'm dubious as to whether it's doing anything at all! I'm also having audio troubles with this burner - having no analog outs I've no option but to use digital and it seems to crash various things such as Realplayer. Media used in these two examples are - (Single layer) TDK +R 1-16X, and (Dual layer) Aone +R 8X. No I havn't tried Verbatim media yet (but will be for my next batch if they do printable versions) but it doesn't strike me as a media related issue. And no, I havn't got a log to show you as yet. No other programs are running, and antivirus is temporarily halted. Thanks for any suggestions.
