Actual DVD movies, TV show box set to be more specific

To be honest, I'm really bad with computers, I just right clicked the file and sent it to a compressed folder The files are ripped from a DVD (I'm backing up my DVDs) The original (non compressed) file is still there Do you have any advice on how I can make the file smaller but still be used with Imgburn?

I'm trying to burn a file that is 9GB onto an 8.5 GB disc to create a DVD I compressed the files to fit the disc But when I search for the folder in "Source" the compressed file doesn't appear Any help? [Obviously no log to show)

Thanks, will updating the service pack stop Imgburn from only burning my DVD to a certain percentage?

I got Imgburn yesterday and I've been trying to burn DVD's to blank discs Most of the time it will copy smoothly But some of the time it will burn until a certain percentage (5%, 17%, 23%, 42%), The time remaining will say unknown and the Log won't display any errors. I can tolerate the whole shutting down my computer to get the disc back and starting all over again thing but when I format the unfinished burned disc Imgburn won't accept it, it will say that the disc is not empty.
