Both DVD brands i got say 16x write speed on them. I manually changed ImgBurn settings to 4x after getting a bunch of errors. So I'm not sure what is going on.

I've never had issues with this drive before and I've used two different types of DVD brands so far. So I don't think this is the issue. I've gotten the same errors on other discs. Maybe my drive finally KO'd... Prologue: I haven't found a workable solution for this after searching the forum I have tried two different brands of DVDs, Memorex and Ativa. I have tried burning different things (including a data CD with a single mp3) but mostly I've been trying to burn a VIDEO_TS folder (2GB approx).
