Thanks for the follow up. You got me thinking and I ended up solving the problem. Had been using the chipset and RST drivers from MSI's site for my specific board because they were newer versions than what was on Intel's support site. These are the versions that MSI is distributing: Intel Chipset v9.2.3.1020 Intel RST v11.5.0.1109 (release notes have this listed as Alpha driver from 2011-08-05) I did another re-install of Win7 x64 with the versions direct from Intel (v9.2.0.1030 and v10.8.0.1003). I also loaded the "10.8_f6flpy-x64 v10.​8.​0.​1003.zip" drivers from USB key at beginning of installation. Burning works fine now and drive is showing up in ImgBurn as ATAPI instead of SATA. The newer drivers above from MSI's site are probably ok -- my idea is that the magic sauce here was actually doing the "add drivers before install" method. I typically do not do this on install where Win7 can see the target drives however I did notice something. Installing the drivers after Win7 has been installed caused the AHCI/ATAPI controller to show up as a SCSI type device, forget the naming of it but it's the 2nd or 3rd to last device listed in Device Manager. Installing the drivers before Win7 install caused the controller to show up in the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" of Device Manager. Just burned a couple ISOs and they worked flawlessly. No, good catch there but this is a B3 revision board. I was just about to buy the board/proc upgrade and then the recall happened. I postponed the upgrade a few months and this board was one of the first releases after the B3 revision. Board model is the MSI P67A-GD53 (B3).

Hey all, thanks for taking the time to check this post out. Been using ImgBurn for years with excellent results. I am at the end of my rope here with this issue though, really confused why this is happening. I have had very intermittent burning over the past month or two. Most of the time I will get the errors/warnings in the log below and it will outright fail, sometimes it will complete but I have very little comfort in the disc being accurate. Any help or suggestions you have would be appreciated. Running an Intel P67 motherboard with latest chipset and RST drivers. System is currently running in AHCI mode. Have tried full clean re-installs of Win7 x64 Ultimate, same problem. Have tried safe mode, same problem. Have tried two separate known-working drives, same problem. Have tried swapping SATA cables, SATA ports, power cables, etc, same problem. Have the problem with all media - CD-R, DVD+R, DVD+R DL. Using Verbatim discs, have tried different discs from different spindles, same problem. Have tried Automatic Write Speed and have tried lowest possible write speed for each media type, same problem. Have tried default SPTI which has always worked, ElbyCDIO, and VSO. Log below shows the ElbyCDIO test. Have tried updating firmware of both drives, same problem.
