Just for info: following cancellation of all relevant precesses, Windows Explorer suggested the disk was free and available, with full capacity available. No coaster experience so far! Yay!

Could be. <sigh> The drive is supposed to be a good one, but who really knows? I've looked for firmware updates too, and while I know some people in HP who may help I suspect it would be considerable time before anything came of that. Unless Lite-On have something in progress already, of course. I know it'll burn successfully as I have a couple of .mkv files on a TDK LTH-type BD-R that I have recorded that work perectly. This is my first timeout with re-recordable BDs.

After over 3 hours of cancelling I've killed the process. Let's see how a second attempt progresses.

OK. I'd come to the same conclusion. Drive powered off, and yes - I got a succession of errors. Only to be expected. The disc appeared to have formatted successfully. Unexpected, but welcome. However, a subsequent attempt to write to the disc got to the 'Writing' phase, and... Stalled. I 17:31:58 Writing Track 1 of 1... (MODE1/2048, LBA: 0 - 10344959) OK... I've tried stopping the write process (after a considerable period of apparent inactivity) and the abort request was acknowledged. Any further action receives a very friendly message (nice touch) to say the system is cancelling as fast as it can. I'm not about to give up!

Another hour, and no change.

I have had a read through many topics and will happily accept that this may simply be a case of impatience on my part! I put a Verbatim BD-RE into a HP (Lite-On) BD335e. Imgburn advised the disc needed to be formatted before it could be used, and who am I to argue? Anticipating this would take a while, my daughter and I went for a ride on our bikes. (It's cold out there!) Returning, I found the message "28% - Zeroing Sectors..." displayed at the bottom of the Imgburn window. Fair enough. An hour later and... It said the same thing. This is my first go with BDs.
