Since I first posted, I tried burning another ISO (Freedos - Tarnyko's version) : this one, conversely, it'll boot from the physical machine, *not* from VMware ! Go figure... <p> Sorry no DVD burner on this machine (and, well,maybe I am too old school, but I can't see myself waste a DVD for an 8 MB image :=)Thank you very much for the insight on "emulation type". Maybe the image that didn't boot natively can be persuaded to boot using something like "Plop", who knows

Done. The new ISO (read from the burnt disk) compares to the original identically byte for byte. This part id good & implies your program (and the physical burner) aren't at fault :=) Now this is the tricky thing!The ISO boots properly (in a virtual machine, obviously) - whereas the burnt CD doesn't boot at all, in physical or virtual machines - including from the physical drive and machine in which it was ImgBurnt ! It has to be a logical problem, not physical. There are several kinds of bootable ISOs aren't there, maybe some won't boot depending on BIOSes ? Otherwise I'm at a loss... The ISO image in question was found there, 7zipped, 8megabytes (link removed) (I hope it is OK to provide a URL. Hi! I must burn an ISO file to CDRW, for this I searched and downloaded your excellent Imgburn program. OS is Windows XP "Pro (ha!ha!)" SP3. For a test I burnt this small bootable ISO (a min-windows 3.1, ca 8 Mbytes). Upon writing, Imgburn told me eveything was fine (and later Verify mode also tells all OK), the CD cannot be booted - either from physical computers, I tried 2, nor in VMware. The ISO /file/ from which the burning was done boots OK in VMware ! Is this expected or at least can it be explained ?
