Looks like my drive is pining for the fjords. We'll see if it can be repaired. Maybe the drive for this laptop is too cheaply made to burn consistently.

After installing that Intel 12.6 driver, my disc drive is unresponsive. Won't even read discs. Disc drive won't show up in device manager.

I tried at 16X. Still the same. I could try the Taiyo Yuden JVC discs. However, I doubt there's anything wrong with Verbatim Azo discs from Mitsubishi. I haven't heard of anyone else having issues with them. What would the test mode do in this case?

Do you have any other ideas of what could be wrong? I installed a number of updates just the other day.

This driver made my disc drive stop working. I was forced to uninstall it.

I'm working on backup archives for my physical Sega CD collection. Burned an absolutely perfect disc on my first try. I'm using Verbatim DataLifePlus Azo CD-Rs.
