  1. Thanks again for all your replies. I have bought some verbatim +r's and altered the bit settings accordingly. Seems as though we have success. The pauses have not appeared in their usual place, granted i haven't watched the disc from start to finish yet. I will download the daemon tools prog just to be sure. Any probs I will post.

  2. Thanks for all your replies. I have burnt another disc and getting the same symptoms. Tried the discs in all the players and it pauses in the same place on all devices. My laptop is a Toshiba Equium A60. pentium 4 40gb hd 256mb upgraded to 704mb. The external hd and rewriter are connected via usb i have no firewire. I didn't upgrade the firmware on the drive because it came with the most recent version, 1.01. I have some Maxell -r discs i will try but i thought the verbatim were strongly recommended? The dvd players used are sony DVP-NS30 and a pye PDV560VR and my laptop drive is a pioneer dvr k13a.

  3. I've got no experience with external drives, and without logs it's hard to be sure if something else has occurred during the burn. Having said that, if you've got the room on the internal hard drive, I'd be more inclined to create the ISO on it, simply to decrease the risk of data flow problems when burning the disc.

Someone else here with experience with external drives/burners might be able to give a better answer though.

Thanks for your quick replys zacoz. I will give it a go. If i get the same prob i'll try and post the log.

  4. Do you have your log file from the burn to post?

Are you testing the playback on a standalone player? If so, how does it play on your PC (internal / external drive)?

Sorry i don't have the log file. I'm playing the disc on two standalone players. Seems fine on LG but if i use the laptop drive then i pauses. I have used a cleaner on all players. Have tested the burnt disc with nero and it was fine only green dots. I'm also burning at 4x. When i'm creating an iso file i use an external hard drive as the destination. Should i just use the laptop hard drive?

  5. we dont discuss ripping DVD's here for legal reasons

we dont support DVD shrink a ripping software for same reason

we do support IMGburn and the burning of ISO's

I appologize. I am trying to burn an iso image to a single layer dvd disc. I am using verbatim discs mcc03rg20 id with an LG GSA 2164d rewriter but on playback i am getting 3 to 4 short pauses. Welcome any help.

  6. I have started backing up my dvds but have recently experienced playback issues. I'm getting 3 or 4 short pauses thoughout the film. I'm using verbatim mcc03rg20 discs with an LG GSA-2164d external rewriter with ripit4me,dvd shrink and imgburn. Writing at 4x with up to date firmware.

Should i be burning at 8x? Also what about deselecting the split into 1gb size chunks option in shrink?
