Thanks for the suggestions. I did as you suggested and got Virtual CloneDrive...."built" the DVD with IMGBurn from VirtualClone and no luck...same hangup. So I figured to start from scratch...rebuild the original Avid DVD project from scratch following the precise guidebook steps to the letter. Eliminated custom menu and put in template...dragged and dropped movies in menu instead of right click links, etc. Exported to VirtualClone and into IMGBurn...and resulting DVD works great in the Blu Ray/DVD machine as well as the earlier DVD machines. I suspect one of the shortcuts I did during the original menu build was just not acceptable to the Sony BluRay/DVD deck. I see on the Avid forums where lots of folks are using your IMGBurn. I belive it is a worthy addition to my toolkit, so I am headed over to drop a few bucks at your site. Thanks for the suggestions and the good program. Bob

Just accidentally discovered that if I engage "Title Search" on the BD/DVD deck remote control...and scroll up one click, it says there is one (1) title. If I then click on that...the program plays great in full fidelity on the BD/DVD deck. I am going back to the Avid DVD software to see if I can create an image file that includes the title more accessibly for this deck. There is only one movie on the disc and I just dropped it on the "Titles" icon in the Avid DVD workspace. While DVD players see that fine, the Sony seems to want something more. I am creating a more traditional menu setup this time, deleting the extra buttons that come in the template...and just leaving one on the menu and linking it to the movie. Will advise.

Output my 1 hour program from Avid Media Composer to Avid DVD by Sonic and it creates .iso. Used IMGBurn to put that on DVD. Product plays OK in regular DVD players...but when put in Sony BR/DVD combo deck, only menu comes up on screen and the when you push play...an error message: "This operation is currently prohibited for this disc." I also got the same message when I burned this .iso to disc direct from Avid DVD...and again, those discs play fine in regular legacy DVD players, but not in the Sony BR/DVD. I saw the comment in the forums/guidelines about exporting as a "Build" instead of writing image to disc...but all I appear to get from Avid DVD is an .iso file.
