Problem with 2X and 2.4X burning speed and I/O error

My DVD writer is CDDVDW SH-224DB -
when i try to burn data on the disc it gets burned by 4x although i choose 2x and 2.4x. another thing , i get the I/O error at 49% during the verification...thank you
