Thanks. That LG one is an OEM one that I bought from a shop as I built the PC from scratch from separate components. So just need to know if there's a list of ones that will actually work, assuming my issue is the satnav doesn't like the bookmark being DL RW disc rather than DVD-ROM.

Tried that, not manually entering anything simply gives me the same invalid operation error on both drives. In fact for both my drives the only entry that doesn't give an error immediately is when the 'RW' option is selected, but obviously that then fails on selecting to change the drive type due to it not being a RW disc I'm using. Is there a list of drives that are known to simply 'work'?

I've tried my other drive a 'HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31L W618' Which apparently is a HP 'GSA-H31' made by LG. All I get with that is 'invalid command operation code', whether I type the full string or this partial string fro every type given HP isn't in the list and must be some other brand. What exactly am I supposed to enter in this box as I cannot find anywhere that simply tells you how to change the book type, what to enter in the settings. etc? Surely it can't be that hard to set the disc to be a 'dvd-rom'? If it's machine dependent this book type option, is there a list of known working drives (dual layer) as buying a new one will be far cheaper than buying a new satnav disc. thanks.

Hello, I'm trying to burn a disc and set the book type to 'dvd-rom' as it's for my car's satnav (I tried without doing this and the satnav refused to read it). However, no matter what I do I end up with 'invalid field in cdb'. What I did was go to the Advanced section navigated to lite-on (I have a hp pavilion and googling says it's a lite-on) and entered what I saw on the first line: 'hp DVD A DU8A5SH NH62 (RAID)', then went to the lite-on section but every entry tells me it's invalid.
