  1. It turned out to be a media problem after all... I tried a Verbatim DVD-R today and it burned perfectly with no failures . Thanks for your help! I'll probably still look into a Pioneer BD for the future.
  2. I noticed a pinned topic devoted to the Program Memory Area Update Failure. It's great that you were able to prove that ImgBurn is not at fault for the failure, but I'm sure many people would appreciate it if possible solutions to the problem were also included -- eg. cleaning the drive, updating the drive's firmware, using a better drive, or using better media. It also might be helpful to know what exactly a Program Memory Area Update Failure means. Just my 2 cents
  3. What does the Program Memory Area Update Failure indicate? Do you think it is the drive and media that are causing this issue? I've seen Verbatim DVD+R media recommended in other threads, but what brands/models of DVD/Bluray drives would you recommend? Thanks for the quick reply.
  4. First of all, I'd just like to say that I'm new to ImgBurn and burning DVDs, so please bear with me . I am attempting to backup a decrypted .iso movie to DVD using ImgBurn. So far, I've only managed to make myself some nice new coasters. I've been running into a number of errors caused by a Program Memory Area Update Failure: failed to synchronize cache, failed to close track, and failed to finalize disc. I've also been running into many "Unrecovered Read" errors while verifying. OS: Windows 7 (64-bit) ImgBurn Version: v2.5.8.0 DVD Burner: LG Super Multi (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B ATA Device) DVD Burner Firmware Version: DL13 (previously DL11) Media: Philips DVD+R (4.7 GB, 1-16x) By updating the firmware (from DL11 to DL13) and writing at a slower speed (4x), I was able to reduce but not eliminate the number of failures. The burned discs are unreadable by my DVD player. I can view the DVD contents on my computer, but the video freezes during playback. Log: Apart from using a better burner or media, I'm not sure how to go about fixing these problems. Any help is appreciated!
