Secondly, thankyou for a superb program ( or should that be the other way around? ) Interestingly, after my posting the above I read more about the ImgBurn options and changed the I/O to use the ASAPI driver. This it seems applies system wide (correct me if I am wrong) and re-ran the SpeedDisc test on one of the duff discs that I had burned before this driver change. DiscSpeed reported no errors in it's scan. Changing back to the SPTI driver via the ImgBurn Settings resulted in the DiscSpeed program showing the errors again. As I've got a few of these discs and they were very inexpensive, I'll run some more tests and post the results here, they may prove informative. As to the meaning of the colours, here is an excerpt from the DiscSpeed manual, it doesn't so far as I can see explain how it makes this judgement: "The graph shows all sectors on the disc in one chart, with each sector being plotted with a small square. Each square, i.e. each sector, is displayed in a different color depending on its status. The Surface scan area shows the respective percentage of sectors in the following three categories: Good, Damaged, and Bad in real time while the test is running. The following colors, i.e. status indicators, are available: Green: Readable sectors with no errors. Yellow: Damaged sectors that can still be read using the recorder's internal error correction feature. Red: Damaged sectors that cannot be corrected and are consequently unreadable."

Hello there. I recently bought some Verbatim CD-Rs via ebay. The discs have proven to be of poor quality, perhaps unsurprisingly. However, my query is regarding when I burned a “cue” image file to the discs (i.e. CD Audio) using ImgBurn with the verify option turned on. The discs appeared to have burned successfully and no verify errors were reported. On playing back the discs on a CD player, or through the computer, there were quite significant audible errors. Using Nero DiscSpeed to check these discs revealed a high proportion of bad sectors (marked in amber) on the disc map that program produces, implying the discs were of poor quality. The first two of the discs I tried gave similar results (nero reported > 50% error). I do not have this problem with other media, so feel reasonably confident that this particular batch of CD-Rs is the problem. To reinforce this conclusion I used the ImgBurn “Create image file from disc” option, choosing a WAV file output from one of the discs described above. Auditioning the WAV file reproduced the same audio errors, but the ImgBurn log of this operation did not indicate any errors. My question is this: Is there a reason that ImgBurn does not report verify errors, perhaps because of a quirk of the Audio CD file structure or some other cause. I’ve been using the program for many years now, and always verify with DVDs for both data and video, and read/write errors are reported in the log for these other formats.
