  1. Did my response disappear? I said 'THANKS'! and I will go back to a newer version and try it again. At least, thanks to you, I know more! :-) Izzy
  2. Sorry I meant to add that part about the updating/roll back of the software. I saw where someone posted a screenshot of choosing 'options' when installing. Plus I didn't have any problems with the 'old version'. In any event I didn't get any options in installation of old or new versions of Imgburn. So I couldn't choose anything. (like enabling the STPI).... and the older versions didn't work. Here is what I got from drivers list: Filter Type Filter Driver Name --------------------------------------------------- Upper Device Filter - (None Found) Upper Class Filter - (None Found) Device - CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter - (None Found) Lower Device Filter - (None Found) Version Information All information says 'N/A' File Name: File Version: File Description: Product Name: Product Version: Company Name Copyright: ====================== This was with just the internal Blu Ray Reader/ DVD Writer . Thanks, Izzy
  3. Hi again, and thanks for your help! I have uninstalled the controller but it didn't do anything. (and that was 2 days ago when this issue started). So... In the meantime I fiddled with some settings and checked VSO and it detected them, and the drives showed up. (But I don't know what this is, but I think I used some software by VSO that showed I had drives but they still didn't work... Now, with that instead of SPTI, it 'says' it will work. (But again, I don't know what that is). I did as you asked and h ere is the log file - searching for SCSI/ATAPI. I 17:27:41 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! This time I just had the internal Blu Ray reader / DVD burner on. Thanks, Izzy
  4. No difference in safe mode. I have Win 7 Home Premium, but it's odd with no much missing. Any other way to check if SPTI is installed/working etc? thanks, Izzy
  5. Hi, and thanks for responding. Yes, I tried the Microsoft Fix it - and it is no longer supported. I even tried finding an old copy someone had. I tried the other utility and it found some hardware problems and 'couldn't resolve them' - but didn't say what they were or why. I'm stumped! Is the STPI something that is installed? (like I had to download the Group Policy Editor because my edition of Windows didn't have it.) Even in there there is NO cd / dvd as others have and been able to 'fix it' their problem. I disabled virus protection as well. I tried safe mode, but will try again. Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone, It may show I'm new here, but I'm not. Was here years ago, and haven't had problems since. Well, now I have, and am very confused and frustrated. I burned a dvd just a few weeks ago - but I recently tried to burn some more, and dragged out a blu ray burner to back up some stuff - and suddenly I can't. Imgburn did update - I had a very very old copy, but it worked. This time 'update'! Now, nothing works. The drives show up in control panel, windows explorer, etc. But nothing works - the error from Imgburn says: I 11:55:38 Total Physical Memory: 16,736,172 KB - Available: 8,668,956 KB I 11:55:38 Initialising SPTI... I 11:55:38 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... E 11:55:41 CreateFile Failed! - Device: '\\.\CdRom0' (F:) E 11:55:41 Reason: Access is denied. W 11:55:41 Errors were encountered when trying to access a drive. W 11:55:41 This drive will not be visible in the program. E 11:55:41 You need Administrative privileges to use SPTI. W 11:55:41 No devices detected! I didn't have the blu ray drive connected (external) this time. I did the 'registry entries' fix, I had to download some files to have Group Policy Editor (this is just Win 7 Home) - but no cd/dvd drives show up anywhere! - so can't try anything there. Shouldn't they show up? I have an administrator account, and still nothing. I thought these error messages were 'old' and that the SPTI 'nonsense' was all taken care of. Have I been living under a rock? :-) Any help? It's been days of fiddling and getting nowhere. I have searched the FAQ's, and other threads, but nothing seems to work on my end. Any hope? Thanks, Izzy
