The first several chapters following the layer break skip for me as well. It appears that the verification step is not successful... Perhaps this could have caught the problem?

After reading additional posts, led me to test the disk on several other players. The disk worked fine on 9" TV-DVD combo and laptop drive. Therefore, my Toshiba SD2805 appears to be the culprit.
