(writing as I go for log sake)
Yeah they sound good on my PC. This is in a nice Sony ES series CD player, so the only issue could be with imgburn (or how it's configured). I'm also using Taiyo Yuden CDr's and I burn at 16x speed with these discs since they support up to 64x.
Another thing to note is that the discs never verify correctly, there's always an error which I forgot to screenshot. The discs still play though.
Attempt 1:
- Converted WAVs to FLAC using MediaHuman (my fav)
- Just installed madFLAC, CD is burning, using 16x speed.
- Verify Failed, reason: Layouts do not match (whatever that means, probably due to my cue file fuckery)
- Disc didn't even read. However, I suspect this is my bad as I changed the CUE file from previous attempts:
- I discovered my audio track hiding trick only works if you skip to the tracks, if let play they will play the "hidden" portion with exception of track 1. I tried to circumvent this by making INDEX 01 value equal to the split, but it looks like this messed things up.
- for added context, the way to properly hide audio in pregap (for track 1) is to change INDEX 01 00:00:00 to INDEX 00 00:00:00 and then add an additional line with INDEX 01 xx:xx:xx
Attempt 2: (I hope this works as I am running out of non inkjet CDrs. I don't have a CD player that will play RWs)
- Burning disc, using 16x still but edited CUE file to revert back to how it was for successful burns.
- Verify... failed?
- Well, no matter! The tinny audio is fixed. Thank you very much for the suggestion
- Side note: if anyone knows anything about hiding secrets on CDs and has some suggestions on how to put easter eggs in the middle of an album rather than just at the start, please let me know!
