I think I will see if I can get one of those external ones. Question, if my dvds have a lot of scratches, will trying to read them damage the player?

Internal Drives are not available here. They stopped importing it because not many use them. This is the only store that I found that had it and the manufacturing date says September 2020. It seems they sell laptop's internal drive with a SATA to USB as a the new thing since people use a caddy to add an extra SSD in that space. In short, research failure on my part. As for why I got the same thing again, they replaced the original when I claimed warranty. What I find weird is why it reads 1.3GB. Why that specifically? Thanks

The original drive failed. It made huge noise then completely refused to do anything other then open and, accept a disc and then make terrifying noise. I managed to get another one, hp CDDVDW TS-H653T ATA Device, also from Samsung, and it initially reported the correct size, 4.38 GB at the store and I even managed to burn a DVD and it copied files just fine, yesterday night however, I have the same issue again. I am not certain what is causing it, since it was fine when I installed it in my pc on Wednesday. I tried with Verbatim and YD, same result. I also used a Live Lununtu USB on the first one, and it too reported the same 1.31 GB size. They have a capacity of 4.7 GB. But both Windows Explorer and IMGBurn says 1.31 GB of 1.31 GB free. I can read disks fine. I tried with Verbatim and YDD and the result is the same.
