  1. Yes, I had poked around, but was looking for a definitive answer. It sounds like it is impossible to make a backup.
  2. If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it. I have burned a lot of discs over the years, and never had many issue; always use good burners and media (update firmware, Verbatim disc, etc.) I am trying to make a working backup of my navigation dvd for my car. I learned long ago with kids that you need to make backups, as they love pressing buttons and handling discs. Here is the info of the original disc ISO: Current Profile: DVD-ROM Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 3,603,491 Size: 7,379,949,568 bytes Time: 800:48:41 (MM:SS:FF) TOC Information: Session 1... -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 3603490) -> LeadOut (LBA: 3603491) Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Book Type: DVD-ROM Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: 10.08Mbps Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2,082,239 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Layer Information: Layer 0 Sectors: 1,885,632 (52.33%) Layer 1 Sectors: 1,717,859 (47.67%) ---- I made an ISO of this disc, and burned a copy to a Verbatime DVD+R DL disc, with booktype set to DVD-ROM, and write speed 1x. Here is the info on the copy: Current Profile: DVD+R DL Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 3,603,504 Size: 7,379,976,192 bytes Time: 800:48:54 (MM:SS:FF) TOC Information: Session 1... -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 3603503) -> LeadOut (LBA: 3603504) Physical Format Information (ADIP): Disc ID: MKM-001-00 Book Type: DVD+R DL Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,580,607 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,283,519 Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: MKM-001-00 Book Type: DVD-ROM Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,412,847 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,082,239 Layer Information: Layer 0 Sectors: 1,885,632 (52.33%) Layer 1 Sectors: 1,717,872 (47.67%) --- The copy burns fine. But when I put it in the navigation drive, the disc is not recognized. "DVD not readable/wrong type"; some type of message like that. I have made about 3 copies, all with the same results. So here's where I am: - I think the PTP vs. OTP has something to do with it, but I'm not sure. - This disc info for the original disc and copy are not the same; shouldn't they be? I suspect it might be related to PTP vs. OTP, but again, not sure. - Any ideas on how to deal with this? Do I need another app? (ex. PgcEdit) Any pointers would be appreciated.
