  1. That's where the registry entry comes in!

Samsung drives are blocked by default and cannot be used. Unblock it and they should work.

Thats weird, I´ve done the unblocking thing allready. Have to check when I get home.

EDIT: The reason the "start"-button was grayed out was Nero discpeed thougt that all of my discs that I´ve burned latly was blanks.

I´m trying another disc right now. A 360 game that I think was burned with the 203. But it´s kinda wieard it´s a really cheep DVD+DL

and it is the only one thats ever worked so far. I´ve sort of forgotten abaout this game. And if is´s really burned with the 203 there means that there´s hope... right?

EDIT 2: Three times i´ve tried now and discspeed locks upp, aswell as the hole cpu. So I havent been able to create those nice screenprints but here is the numbers if it´s to any help:

PI Error Avg: 33.12, Max: 159, Tot: 489785

PI Fail: Avg: 0.98, Max: 13, Tot: 115742

  2. Jmicron make the SATA/IDE chipsets that are very common on modern motherboards (to give you additional SATA/IDE ports). They're not as reliable as the proper ones that are part of the southbridge and should be avoided where possible.

Ahh ok, I think I start to get the hang of things. Thanks.

well the jmicron 368 only does the pata port

I saw that to. If Jmicron is´nt that good mybe thats why my computer has sutch a hard time detecting my sekundery

    harddrive. (Diffrent story)

The reason that a bought a SATA burner in the first place is that I was unable to burn using my old IDE-burner on my new G33 MB.

I´ve at least learn something today. Thanks guys.

I´m going to try the "Nero diskspeed" to night. Do I put a coaster in or a blank dvd?

  3. LIGHTNING UK!: So you thiks the burner is the problem? I havent tried bured in 4x. You think i will work better?

I tried another brand of DVDs this morning, but it also failed at 51%.

    /Niklas

    EDIT:

no jmicron driver listed but I didn't know they made just an ide chip, has esata also so I would suspect that one of the sata's is controlled by the jmicron

    What is Jmicron?

  4. Hey. Thanks fore the reply.

Which sata controller is on you mobo. Which ever it is see if there is an update to it. Or if your using jmicron switch it to the other sata ports on your mobo.

I don´t really understand what you mean but I´m going to try to check.

Make sure you PSU is upto the job less than 20-26 amp on the 12v line can cause problems depending on how much hardware you got in machine and at least 500w. A 500w psu is low in todays standards so might be worth getting 650w or higher but look at 12v line for ampage above 26.

How do I check 20-26 amp thing? I have a 500w psu and 2 harddrives and one dvd-burner.

If still no good after switching sata ports look in bios and see how SATA is assigned I like to sert mine to IDE mode less problems that way

When you say swith SATA ports, do you mean just swap them around? I only have 3 I think.

A have this moderbord: Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H

    Thanks.

    /Niklas

  5. Hello. I´ve read a bit on this forum and have seen topics like this but have to ask.

My burnes failes @ 51% everytime. I just bought this burner (samsung SH-S203B SATA) and the firmware seems to be the latest. And I use Vebatim DVD+DL.

Anyways would really be glad if you cold help me out.
