> Why I still use Nero
I also prefer ' Nero Burning Rom ' for certain things as I like the explorer windows where I can
drag n drop although I like ImgBurn I only use for ISO or bin/cue and video_ts or a couple of
folders, any more folders and also for audio cd's I open up Nero
Sure you actually used the latest version of ImgBurn?
new versions of ImgBurn give me a headache ...... VERIFY ..... I turn it off and assoon as I burn a disc it's on somewhere there seems to be a dozen verify's hidden away
and all have to be turned off if one is left on somewhere it does a verify (I only burn
discs at a slow speed so I'm not interested in verify being on by default)
There is only one place where you switch it off and on.
Slow burning speed is not the same as it always burns without errors.
For me if I use ImgBurn to burn a CD then if I insert a DVDR it can detect the DVDR discbut the burn speed does not adjust and it wants to burn it at the last used CDR speed !!!
Use the Automatic Write Speed function and set your desired write speeds with it and you can forget about changing the drop down write speed selector in the future. Nero can't do that.
ok I installed the new version and guess what ....... VERIFY is back on by default !!!
you can see in the JPG the 2.5.0.0 I had turned them all off and after I install 2.5.1.0 they're back on
so why can't ImgBurn remember my user settings ?
The Automatic Write Speed function is a bit geeky .......... Nero is more user friendly ...... honest
You have to put discs in IMB after it looks it click add and then add burner then insert the next brand of CDR or DVDR etc etc
I wasted a DVDR it burnt at CDR speed (my player can't load it) I must not have clicked something after I selected add
Why can I insert a disc in Nero and it looks at it and shows that discs burn speeds and won't let me burn faster
but IMB can't do that
Like I said I like ImgBurn but for some things like multiple folders and audio I think "Nero Burning Rom" is better

Still ... Nero ... probably has a bigger developement team than ImgBurn has

I'd like to be able to say 2 months ago but in reality, another week or two I'm afraid.
Love an AUDIO CD feature I hope it also does 90 min CD's as well DAO (no gaps)
and burn FLAC directly as wav would be ideal ......<drool, drool> like Nero's plugin can do
strangely most audio cd burning programs can't do 90 min discs it's as if the programmers have never heard of them
Thanks ................. and I still use DVD decrypter !

How come I can't remove the duplicate post ? only option is to edit it (!)

Hi I have a pioneer 107D and Liteon 1619S and a friend has a Pioneer (I forget model but it's a few years old)
We both have problems burning discs sometimes it's "Power Calibration" and can't start but very recently for both
of us discs burn without errors but neither DVD-players or the PC can read them the PC shows them as blank
We were talking about it the other night and that we both have the very same problem using different software
(img burn, Nero, Cheetah)
We try different brands (I mostly use T.Y) we were wondering if there is a way to check the burners motor/lens/laser
a utility that can test the lasers burn strength that can tell if it is becoming weak or is not aligned properly just becuase burners are cheap doesn't mean I should buy one unless the old one is really faulty.
There are programs like DVD info to test the disc dye and burn quality
Is there a utility to test a burners laser quality and strength ? ........... could be useful !
For anyone reading this with a similiar problem looking for an answer .......... one solution we found is before burning to
## turn OFF ## (not restart) the PC ...... then turn PC on and burn but no more than 2 discs ....... Turn off and turn on a again etc ........ the turning off / on seems refresh burner working with the software
For me it's weird as the Pioneer is old but the Lite-on is only 2 years old strange it's happening to both ....... oh yes we have virus programs etc and latest firmware.
any .............. know all's around here
