dbminter Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Where are the former Folder Options for being able to change the icon association with a file type in Vista? Back in XP, they were in Folder Options under File Types, but Microsoft fucking changed things once again, naturally. Thanks!
mmalves Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I think the option you want is Control Panel -> Default Programs -> Associate a file type or protocol with a program
dbminter Posted May 16, 2009 Author Posted May 16, 2009 That only changes the application used to open the file extension with. It doesn't have an icon option.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 You might just have to do it directly in the registry.
dbminter Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 Yeah, what I found while searching indicated editing the Registry. One solution I found that does work is to install a separate application called Creative Element Power Tools. It has a place where you can change the icon of an association under Vista.
