Tavinsky
I've been using ImgBurn since last year, and everything works just fine, movies, xbox360 games, data, everything burned perfectly, but yesterday starts to send me a write error, no matter if it's a single layer disc, double layer, verbatim, memorex, sony, etc. Is always the same error and in the exactly same time (2%) I dont know if my drive doesnt work anymore, it's a Samsung WriteMaster SH-S182D or what the hell is happening. My firmware is updated, all cables are checked, I even update my bios and format my HD reinstalling WinXP and, guess what? THE FREAKING SAME ERROR!!!! The last solution that I could think now is testing the drive in other PC but I hope that you guys can help me here. P.D. The ImgBurn don't even burn the dvd's, recognize it, TRY to burn, but at 2% pop up the error. I 19:40:39 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! I 19:40:39 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 19:40:39 Total Physical Memory: 2,095,532 KB - Available: 1,723,500 KB I 19:40:39 Initialising SPTI... I 19:40:39 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 19:40:58 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD Edited May 17, 2009 by Tavinsky
blutach
Use better media. I 19:43:27 Destination Media Sectors: 16,384,000 Is clearly wrong - so the drive doesn't like that shit (or is going west). http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 You say you have used Verbs, so it might be your drive. Do try with Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore, if you haven't already. Regards

mmalves
I 22:10:20 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x)I 22:10:20 Destination Media Sectors: 16,384,000 Your drive still isn't correctly recognizing these discs. If it doesn't work with Verbatim then it's time for a new drive. Also post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu).

mmalves
Try with Verbatim blanks and if it still doesn't work, then it's time for a new burner
blutach
The thing that I still don't understand is why suddenly starts to give this error, last week everything works great, no matter the kind of disc or the brand. They do wear out, you know. Try mmalves's suggestion then if that doesn't work, a drive cleaner or new drive might be the go. Regards
Tavinsky
For all your comments maybe the bertter it's to buy a new one, cuz I burn a lot discs and this way I solve the problem from the root, I just want to be sure that it's a drive problem and not a configuration issue. I heard that the Pioneers are a very good kind of brand, is this true? any other suggestions?
Cynthia
I like Pioneers. Later Optiarcs like the 720x and 724x seems also to give nice results. Just stay away from rebadged burners.
