If one burns an image with ImgBurn, most time the adjusted write speed used.

Sometimes I have the problem that the adjusted write speed is ignored. :(

The same was noticeable to me, if one accomplishes only the TEST MODE and burns then the image.

The TEST MODE runs with 4x and afterwards with 2,4x is written.

I am not sure whether does it concern here a possible bug?

A little help or an explanation like this can happen, would be nice. :)

I don't think that's the problem here.

It might be that the drive just doesn't think the burn quality is quite what it should be and so is limiting the speed.

Is there any reason you're slowing those discs down to 4x? TY media is normally burnt faster than it's recommended speed, not slower! The drives firmware will probably be optimised to burn at 8x.

The drive is in total control of the speed - unless of course the buffers are always on 0% (where what dirio49 said above may apply).

Thanks for the answers,

If one uses QSuite, it is recommended always as a write speed 4x for the TY.

Also I see a clear difference between 4x and 8x writing speed with the TY.

A new firmware will probably solve the problem.

It is funny, only if I use Record Now, the drive does not throttle the burning speed.

It happens always only in ImgBurn (therefore my question).

If the new version of ImgBurn is available, I try it over again.

Thanks! :)

Any chance you could do a PIPO scan of a 4x burn and an 8x burn?

I'd like to see the difference with that media.

As you may have seen in our media forum, the TY discs burnt quite nicely at 8x in the 1640. I see no reason why you'd need to slow it down to get anything better.

Do keep an eye on the buffers though.

The 'Buffer' should always be on 100%. With BenQ drives, the 'Device Buffer' fluctuates around 80% - 100%.

Here a PIPO Scan with 4x and 8x burn. My BenQ drive, the 'Device Buffer' fluctuates between 85% and 95%.

If is only my personal opinion, but I may with 4x write speed rather.

Tomorrow I will ask the BenQ Support.

are they real yudens?

Surface: white printable

Media Code: YUDEN000-T02-00

Labelling (ring): TG/PG

And as already said...

Tomorrow I ask the BenQ Support.

It is also possible, the BenQ is quite defective after 2 months. :'(

wow, that's a shocking burn at 8x! No wonder you burn at 4x!

I'm sure that can't be right though... either there's a bug in the firmware for that media or BenQ really need to get their arse in gear and support them properly

I only wish I had some TY +R 8x discs to test with so we could compare :(

I have some 16x DVD+R ones (Plextor branded) and I also have 8x & 16x real TY DVD-Rs. No 8x DVD+Rs though.

Is SolidBurn for known media set on or off? If it's on I'd try clearing the eeprom with QSuite, or if that doesn't work flash back to BSHB, reboot and flash to BSOB again (some people prefer BSLB over BSOB though).

Or simply switch SolidBurn for known media off, though that'll disable overspeeding as well...

That is quite the worst 8x burn on TY media I have seen..... :o !

In my experience TYG02 burnt at 12x isn't as high on quality as the 8x burns and the TYG03 dye isn't really up to 98-99% quality at 16x either but like LUK! I would have expected far better at 8x....

The BenQ Support said to me, I should the firmware BSLB or BSMB to use.

One did not want to say details to me. One has also sent me immediately both firmware.

I must probably trust the Support.
