Hello - I have read thru the FAQ, searched the topics and still am not finding an answer that I can fit to my issue...

Here goes -

I have successfully put together an Upgrade compelation of the Windows 7 RC disk that Microsoft has released. The modification was simple and changed one number in a sources.ini file that will allow users of the Windows 7 Beta to perform an upgrade instead of fresh install.

The problem that I am having is re-compiling the data into an ISO image. I have tested the data file on USB and remote HDD and verified that it works as unpacked - but I can not get it right when I rebuild it.

Nothing has changed from when I unpacked the files so in theory it shoudl just be a matter of repacking the ISO and burning it to disk. What happens is that the ISO is not bootable at all, you can run setup.exe and everything goes as planned but just not booting from the DVD.

I know this is going to be pretty simple to fix - probably just striping the boot info from a regular Windows 7 RC boot disk but I would like confirmation on that before I re-build the data.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to extract the boot image from a win7 disc. After doing this ImgBurn will even ask you if you want to use the same settings for the next burn ;)

By the way, you should also use the same filesystems as the original disc.
