Failed to Read Sector - Reason: L-EC Uncorrectable Error

Recommended Posts

I am trying to create a disk image of a DVD-R backup of a HDD. The HDD backup DVD-R was created using a Linux based backup program. I have had success using IMGBurn to create a disk image of a backup like this before.

Any ideas? Is it a bad sector on the original HDD?

DVD-R disk is Memorex

DVD burner is Sony.

No, it is not a bad sector on the original HDD, it seems that media (disc) has failed.

Can you give some detail as to what the error log is reporting?

Thanks,

W 15:29:35 Failed to Read Sector 339552 - Reason: L-EC Uncorrectable Error

It's reporting that.

Your drive can't read the sector mentioned and the reason for it (according to the drive itself) is 'L-EC Uncorrectable Error'.

You can Google 'L-EC Uncorrectable Error' if you want to know all the details.

If the disc is clean and free from scratches, it'll be failing because it was a bad burn or the media is just rubbish.
