Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Basically, while trying to burn this particular game, it seems that the program will report some write errors nearing the end of the burning. I've went through with 3 discs, all return results at different % of burning before the operation failed. If it helps, 1st Disc is at 89%, 2nd is at 91% and the last one failed at 98%. I've got no idea why this is happening, so can anyone advise me on this? And yep, I'm using Verba's discs. And here's the log to go with it: I 17:46:01 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started!I 17:46:01 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 17:46:01 Total Physical Memory: 2,095,828 KB - Available: 1,244,748 KB W 17:46:01 Drive J:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size. I 17:46:01 Initialising SPTI... I 17:46:01 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 17:46:01 Found 1 DVD
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Try a firmware update, yours is quite old (and the drive is old anyway). http://www.firmwarehq.com/BenQ/DW1640/files.html
Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 No dice. Still giving me the same errors... now at 34% though.
Cynthia Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 If it also errors on the 4x and 8x write speed - it sounds as it's time to get a new burner.
Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 I don't really burn stuff at 4x or 8x... I've been told that it's best if I burnt those images on 2.4x. I've done some burning sometime ago, and it worked. Can it be the image's problem?
Cynthia Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Lowest speed is not always the best ones. One of my Pioneers likes the 6x write speed best. If you used the same media code/discs and it worked it the pass, it could be so easy that your burner needs to get in contact with a laser head cleaning disc.
Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 I've got another question that I would like to ask: If the disc is not finalized yet, is it even possible to re-burn the whole disc again?
mmalves Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nope, because everything up to that point where it failed was burned.
Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 If it's that, then the program wouldn't allow you to burn things on a burnt disc, right? On another note, I've used a lens cleaner and let it run in the drive for about 10mins... then I proceeded to burn another copy, but it failed again at 97%. I've updated the firmware on my driver too...
mmalves Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 ImgBurn relies on the information provided by the drive, and it seems your burner doesn't like the Verbatim 8x blanks. Try with the 2.4x Verbatim blanks and it should work
Zefux Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 Hmm, alright! I'll keep a look out on the 2.4x discs at the place which I frequent to... However, it is strange that I managed to burnt a few images with the same discs, but this particular image keeps failing me.
