Setsu Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) I'm trying to burn some backed up images onto some Verbatim DL 2.1x. I'm having trouble with this one particular file, attempted and failed three times. First go everything was fine aside from not being able to find layer break positions, but I've burned some other images with same condition without problem. Then, after reaching the second layer the burn failed at 59%. No log for this one, but I assume it should be same as the third burn down below. Second go the OPC failed. Thrid go OPC didn't fail, and again the burn halted at 59% Log included at bottom with some repeating information edited out where noted. I have successfully burned other images on same kind of media, DL sized DVD backups without layer break options. I've tried a drive cleaning disk but still yielded nothing. My question then is, is this possibly a problem with the image (corrupt, perhaps?), or is it because of the drive? I know Matshita is of poor quality, but since it has yielded me some successful burns I'm not ready to turn all the blame on it yet. LOG: I 18:00:11 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 OPC is disabled by default in newer versions of ImgBurn because some drives fail at performing that operation when they're forced to do it - you should disable it in the settings. You shouldn't burn a double layer image file created by DVD Shrink. Have it output to a VIDEO_TS folder and then use 'Build' mode within ImgBurn to create your image file/burn the disc. That'll fix the layer break issue. Have you tried cleaning your drive at all? If it won't even burn MKM-001-00 without erroring out, you're kinda stuck. Have a look on the Verbatim packaging, does it say where they're made?

Have a look on the Verbatim packaging, does it say where they're made? Well, OPC doesn't seem to be giving me a tough time; it only failed to pass that one time, all the other times the drive burned fine. And I've also tried cleaning the laser with a memorex disk cleaner, no luck there. I'm pretty sure the Verbatim disks I got are legit since they were from Rima.com I'll try rebuilding the image then. But if it wont work, any suggestions on external burning devices? Also, do I need to use DVD Shrink to output the files or could I just emulate the image and drag the contents out? Oh by the way, could you explain the difference in choosing the "ECC block boundary, VOBU boundary" instead of a normal layer break position? Edited June 17, 2009 by Setsu
