Imgburn stops burning (speed 0.0)

Hi,

I've recently built a new system and seem to have trouble getting Imgburn to work properly.

Sometimes the disc will burn and verify fine without any problems, other times the burn will start, the speed will reduce till zero and then the only way to get out of this is a hard reset of the machine.

Right now around 50% of the burns end up with coasters and hard reset of the machine.

Note that i've tried Nero and after 15 discs didn't have a problem - however I really consider Imgburn a superior tool for the job hence I'm not really up for replacing it.

Here's a log of the latest failure:

Which port is the burner connected to?

SATA 2, not the GSATA ports, and I've tried changing the SATA cable and port to no success - is this what you're asking?

Have you tried installing the chipset/storage drivers from AMD's website? Maybe they have a newer version than the one on Gigabyte's website. You may also want to try uninstalling AMD's storage driver and using the standard Microsoft driver.

From what you've described the drive isn't responding to ImgBurn's command, and in these cases the storage driver is most likely the one causing the problem.

By the way, your "Gigabyte SATA2 controller" (the GSATA2_x ports) is in fact a JMicron controller, and you can get the latest drivers for it here: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/XP_Vista_Win7/

You could also try using your burner connected to this controller.

AMD website doesn't really have chipset drivers, results are poor or confusing, and I was using Microsoft drivers, will try AMD's - they're poorly documented so not sure how they'll fit my system, will post back results.

Yes I know GSATA is a re-branded JMicron :)

Muito obrigado :)

Edit - 3rd Disc using AMD driver and another coaster, it seems that unfortunately the log failed to save on the file as after the hard reboot the info wasn't there. Burned 2 discs ok, 3rd disc same problem :(
