Hello. I'm New in the forum. Not in ImgBurn, I used since the begin... Whitout a problem never.

But today, I'm concerned.

Here my problem.

I recently I bought a new Drive, Pioneer DVR-216DBK, like you see in the logs (below) the firmeware is up to date. (1.09).

When I try to burn a DVD (Verbatim DVD-R 16x) I got this error.

I don't know if is a BIOS configuration Problem or what... But I still thinking that my Drive is damaged :(.

Hi and welcome to the forum, MinDokan! :)

Never seen a write error on a test burn before, as the laser beam is not turned on. You get errors even when the test mode is disabled?

Why are you using UDF 2.60 - that's normally only for blu-ray burning.

Thank you Cynthia and mmalves.

I test some things.

Whit Bios Configuration.

Whit SATA RAID/AHCI Mode [AHCI]

and SATA Port0-3 Native Mode [Disabled]

The drive only can Burn and Read CD's, not DVD. (I don't understand :S)

So, go to the bios... And put this items like this.

Whit SATA RAID/AHCI Mode [Disabled]

and SATA Port0-3 Native Mode [Enable]

Apparently now is fine.

If you ask me why? Sorry, I can't answer...

I try too, put this config.

Whit SATA RAID/AHCI Mode [AHCI]

and SATA Port0-3 Native Mode [Enable]

Nothing.

But Disabling SATA RAID/AHCI and Enabling Sata Port0-3 Native Mode, I can Write and Read...

If you have time,

Which port number is the burner connected to? What's the brand and model of your motherboard?

Looking at Gigabyte's site there are four PCB revisions (1.0/1.1/2.0/2.1), do you know which one you have? Are you using the latest BIOS version?

While using AHCI mode (native disabled), install this (reboot if asked) and install this (also reboot if asked). Now try burning again to see if it works.

By the way, the latest driver for your "Gigabyte SATA2 controller" (the GSATA ports) can be found here: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/XP_Vista_Win7/

OK. Here and again...

Everything is up to date.

I downloaded latest version of my drivers.

Here my actual configuration and results.

My mother board has Sata Ports (yellow) and G-Sata Ports (purple).

In the Yellow ports I connected my only one HD, WD5000AAKS.

And in the BIOS I think is configured like this.

SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH9R Southbridge)__________AHCI

SATA Port0-3 Native Mode (Intel ICH9R Southbridge)________Enabled

In the Purple ports I connected my only Drive, PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-216D ATA Device.

Whit this configuration

Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip)__________Enabled

Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip)________IDE (I can change to IDE or AHCI or RAID/IDE)

When I tried to burn CD I have NO problem, never. Always the operation is completed.

So, when I tried to burn a DVD, sometimes everything goes fine, and the most of time got the same error.

post-23915-1246585696.png

I don't know what can I do.

Just Monday I will return this Drive, I think is broken. (It this possible?)

Thank you very much.

Have you tried your burner on the yellow ports?

In other PC Mother Intel I recived the same error. And in the same circunstances. Some time no error, some time error.

My conclusions are, the Drive is damaged.

What is your opinnion?

Posted

My personal opinion/personal experience.

Some mother boards are tricky to get to work with SATA burners. I have one of those Intel based mother boards myself. The solution in my case was to get an internal Silicon Image (non RAID) SATA card. No issues after that. Might be a bit more costly - but it saves the costs of bad burns and the temperament swinging.

I appreciate that.

So... No I go to bed. Tomorrow I will try a little more before go where I Bought my drive.

Two PC's, same error, is too weird.

But, thanks, thank you very much to all of you.

Cheers.
