aguilacuervo Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) hi there, first post here. mighty thanks go to great lightning for imgburn !!! i'm wondering, since i'm doing some catch up reading with all these wonderful guides here... the settings guide says the default read buffer size is 40MB, but i just installed v2.4.4.0 and the pre-installed setting is 20MB. is this a new optimized default ? or just some glitch ? thanks !!! Cynthia Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, aguilacuervo! From the same guide: The default buffer size is set to 40MB for people with 980MB of RAM or more, otherwise it will be set to 20MB.
aguilacuervo Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 in my face, you nasty guide-writing elf !! haha, great job by the way... thanks !!
aguilacuervo Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 ok, wait... I have 1GB of RAM installed, but these sysinfo thingies tell me only 958MB of that is my working total or something. So I get it, ImgBurn stuck with a 20MB read buffer, because I'm 22MB short of 980MB working RAM, but should I keep that so with all these extra virtual pagefile vista gigabytes running around ? Maybe I'm just splitting hairs here.
Cynthia Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 In a healthy computer (you don't get any buffer issues in the log) the buffer will have no impact on the read or burn quality.
