Also the other CD burning programs I have dont seem to want to burn CDs.

Clearly this isn't a bug then! I'll move it to a more appropriate forum.

Try one of the other supported write speeds.

If that doesn't work, get some Taiyo Yuden CD's or buy a new drive.

Ok I messed around with different speeds and then with Nero it got to about 14% and then gave an error. IMGBurn and other programs still gives the same error.

edit: ok tried burning one more time and burn was successful. mustve been the iso itself is just not good.

Well what I did for the successful burn was I used Nero and burned an audio cd with music. Added music to make a full CD, then burned. IT made the cd successfully. The Ubuntu ISO that I was trying to burn just didnt want to burn at all. This morning I burned an ISO from a A+ Course cd I have, that burned successfully as well. So my deduction was that it was just the ISO. If it doesnt work then what couldve been the problem?

The drive has no idea (nor does it care) what you're burning, it's all just a load of 1's and 0's to it.

Your drive bombed out with a 'power calibration area error' so just Google exactly that and you'll get an idea of what the problem is.

Ah ok, researched it. Makes sense now. And chances are yeah Ill need to replace the drive. Albeit I dont want to since its gonna cost me almost $100. So Ill look into external DVDRW Drives. Thanks for the info and the help.
