Buying 16x Media

If I only burn DVD5 discs at 4x is there any compelling reason to purchase 16x media as opposed to 8x? I am talking about Verbatim discs.

Are you saying that if I burn both an 8x and 16x disc at 4x the scan will be better on the 8x disc? If so doesn't that go against the premise that a with slower burn you have less of a chance of problems arising with the burn?

no what i was saying in reply to your subject of 16x discs is, when i have burned them at 4x the scans haven't been as good as those burned at 8x and those burned at 16x havent been as good as those burned at 8x

i guess the firmware of a 8x burner would/should compensate for this though, but this is only a guess as i dont have an 8x burner any more

Have you done any comparing of scans from 8x Verbs burned at 4x and 16x Verbs burned at 8x? If so is there a real difference in the scan quality?

i havent had any 8x verbs for a while , i cant find them in printable where i am so no- sorry i cant help there
