Richnphilly
I just tried my first DL disk. I read the guides, and I went to New Egg and bought Verbatum DVD+R DL disks, the 2.4 kind made in Singapore. I followed the guide for same, and burned from the videoTS folder. The burn went fine (at 2.4) and verify went well. I can read the disk in WMP and MPC HS, but not on the DVD player connected to the TV. I tried to clean the DVD player, but no help. When I put the disk in the player, it comes back almost right away with no disk. Tried a few DL factory DVD's and they work fine. Any ideas? Log below. Am I just SOL with this player? //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 - Log ; Sunday, 26 July 2009, 17:59:20 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 15:55:19 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! mmalves
It seems your DVD player doesn't like DVD+R DL discs then. Could you try that disc on other DVD players? I 16:01:22 Destination Device: [3:0:0] ATAPI iHAS120 6 7L0A (F:) (ATA) There's newer firmware available for your burner (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). Cynthia
I have a cheap DVD player that loves burned single layer media but burned double layer - it just comes up with a 'no disc' error seconds after I put it in. Regular pressed DL discs works without issues.
Richnphilly
It seems your DVD player doesn't like DVD+R DL discs then. Could you try that disc on other DVD players? I guess that's it. I just looked at the manual, and it lists DVD-R disks (as well as CD's) and says it wont play DVD-ROM, RAM< DVD-RW, DVD=RW. Doesn't list any DL disks at all. I guess it's too old. It's a JVC XV-S500SL. BTW thanks for the tip on the firmware. Got it now.

Andy Gone
I have a JVC HR-XV2, and it plays DLs burned by my friend's NEC, but not DLs burned by my PIONEER DVR-217F. Can't figure out what is going on...
