Because of my crappy DVD drive, if I burn anything above 4x, it fails.

My disks for some reason won't go below 4x. So everytime I burn my software, on installation it fails.

Is there a way to force it to burn at 2.4x? Possibly slower?

Thanks

based on the lack of info you have given, most modern discs like being burnt at 8x or higher, if yours are giving errors burning higher than 4x, either better discs of a new drive should solve your problem, a drive can only burn media at the supported speeds, which is shown in the log or the right hand pane of imgburn

I'll buy some new disks then.

I think it's the drive, though. I've had problems with it in the past.

I guess I'll just have to wait a while before I can install Windows 7 :(

if you post a log of your burn , there may be other things that can help such as firmware updates.

you can find logs under help-> ImgBurn logs, just copy and paste one of your burn attempts here

how is this drive configured in bios?

optical drives don't work well on a raid channel, adjust the bios setting or move it to another if you can
