Look in device manager, does it show up?

Any yellow warning triangle by it?

Check the cables to the drive / mothetboard / psu

it shows up in both my computer and device manager, should there be a sata plugged into it?

That's odd then.

Try going into the setting and changing the enumeration option on the I/O tab.

EDIT: Yes, the drive should have 2 cables going into it. 1 for power and 1 for data.

Tools -> Settings -> I/O -> SPTI enumeration method.

It makes more sense if you actually try doing it - and assuming you know where to find the 'settings' in the first place.

Not sure about your previous posted image - but here is that setting:

Main Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> I/O -> SPTI enumeration method.

Device Interface is the default for Vista. Try with Device Class first and then restart ImgBurn - if that doesn't help - try with Drive Letter.

If none of them work then there's something wrong with your OS config.

I'd probably uninstall the IDE controller from within Device manager (the drives section should then be empty - except for a virtual driver perhaps). Then reboot your PC and let it detect them again.
