Is it a double layer disc you have inserted? If so - that model can't burn those discs. (It is however possible to rebuild it to a 2510 model).

so basicaly i have to get a new burner/ drive or is thier a cheeper way to do this?

There is a free way to get it to burn DL media - flash it with firmware for the Nec 2510 model.

 

But this burner was released 2004 and I'm not sure I would trust it with double layer burning. I have the 2510 model and I never liked it. A good burner today doesn't cost very much.

 

A nice burner could be a Pioneer 116 or 117 model. The Optiarc 720x model is also good.

so theres no way i can atleast try to burn or should i buy that burner u speek of and about how much is it?

Well, you could try to flash it with Nec 2510 firmware - if it works - it works. If not - you know it didn't work.

Be aware that the flash could go south and the burner be useless (not very likely - but it can happen)

After the flash - restart the computer
