Ficus Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 hi! i made a search, but i didn't find the answer to my problem. when i burn a cd/dvd, i manually select the lowest write speed compatible with the media (respectively 16x/4x), but it always burn it at maximum speed. i also tried with auto write speed, setting it at 16x/4x for different media, i selected the AWS option for write speed, but still it doesn't work. i use verbatim cd/dvd. i attach the imgburn log file. in the right part, there is written for the cd: ASUS DRW-20B1ST 1.00 (ATA)Current Profile: CD-R Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 348,533 Size: 713,795,584 bytes Time: 77:29:08 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 16x, 24x, 32x, 40x, 48x TOC Information: Session 1... Cynthia Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, Ficus! I 17:06:00 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MCC 03RG20) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x; 12x; 16x) The lowest for the DVD is 4x and even if you select 1x - it will go for 4x. The CD seems to pick the highest speed, even if you select a lower value. There is a later firmware for that burner. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Asus/DRW-20B1ST/files.html
