mmalves Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Your drive doesn't like the blanks you're using. Device: [1:0:0] TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SD-R5372 TU53 (D: ) (ATA) Update the burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again.
Warrior_Monk Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Your drive doesn't like the blanks you're using. Ok so it's just a bad batch of disks? I'm using Sony brand BTW I've been using them for years, but this started coming up in the past month or so. I'm switching to Verbatim. I'll try updating the firmware and see if that helps as I still have about 25 sony dvds left and I'd like to get use out of them.
Cynthia Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Might wanna try to clean the burners laser head with a cleaning disc.
Warrior_Monk Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Updating the firmware and using a dvd cleaner seemed to do it. I burned and used verify on three disks, the only problem is one of the three said "Device Not Ready - Unable to Recover TOC" when starting verify but I chalk it up to Sonys quality going down hill. My other dvds will be here tomorrow (mail order) so I'll know for sure then. Thank you for the help.
