Can burn, but disk not recognized in XP or DVD player

Hi, I'm having problems with Imgburn burning DVDs. The burn goes through to completion, and verifies. I can see the files or watch the movie on ANY Vista box.... but if I try to view the files on an XP box, or play the movie on a DVD player -- I see nothing. The XP boxes do not see the disk as blank, just a formatted disk with no data.

I'm using ImgBurn 2.5

System Specs.

AMD Phenom 9850

8 gigs Ram

Asus mATX780g Motherboard

Samsung S223Q

The DVDs Im using to put files on are all sorts of different brands, I can burn succesfully with my XP box and view on any box.

TIA for any help. I'm writing this from work, I'll post a log later if it'll help.

Hi and welcome

I can see the files or watch the movie on ANY Vista box

I assume you have tried this on many many machines then?

The DVDs Im using to put files on are all sorts of different brands,

Although I understand the reason for the statement, if you have spent some time reading here, or on other forums, you will have realized that that is a huge problem when trying to troubleshoot.

if I try to view the files on an XP box, or play the movie on a DVD player -- I see nothing

The machine that you make the disc with should always be able to read it. A lot of problems are uncovered when trying to use other means of reading the same disc.

Lets start with a log of the complete, verified burn and work on up from there.

I've used 2 other vista boxes to view the disk on, both a laptop and a desktop and they work fine.

Since I knew I was making a coaster, here's the file using a cheap Staples DVD+R

Hello,

I am having a similar issue.

I bought some BENQ DVD+R discs.

I burned them and they play fine on my standalone player.

However if I put them back in the DVDRW Lite On Drive I used to burn them, autoplay shows them as blanks and asks me if I want to launch a program to burn them.

If I try to read it with IMGBURN, I get this

LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H LL0D (ATA)

Current Profile: DVD+RW

Disc Information:

but it's obvious something is not working because it says it will create the image as c:\image.iso instead of the disc label I used when burning.

If I click on the icon to start the ripping I get "L-EC errors"

If I try to read it using Decrypter, I get a UDF FILE SYSTEM PARSING FAILED.

Is it a problem with this specific media? I dont have any other brands but I can buy some other for testing.

However as I said, the movie plays fine on my standalone DVD player.

Thanks for your help.

I'd say the problem is the media you're using. You could try a lens cleaning disc on your Lite On burner to see if it helps, but it would be best if you could use high quality media, such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.
