How to for a Newbie

Basically what I need to do is take a large data file 6.9gb (program) and split it so it will fit on conventional DVD-R 4.7gb disks. I found one post where they wanted to split an Operating System ISO to fit on CD discs but the fix did not seem to help my problem. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

7-Zip/WinRAR/similar programs can do that.
