wont let me burn at 2.4x?

i just got some verbatim 2.4x dual layer dvds and everytime i go to burn an xbox 360 game it writes at 4x

Look at the Supported Write Speeds field of the Information box: those are the available write speeds reported by your burner for the media you're using. Also slower doesn't necessarily mean a better quality burn.
