stevenleelightfoot Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 will add a log as soon as i can but have just tried to copy a game instead of burning from a file and it worked. so it only fails to read when burning from a file but same file and method of burning as have done on friends computer which works on his. do you think unistalling windows vista and reistalling windows xp would help ??
mmalves Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Without the log we don't even if it was a good burn or not, so please post the log from that burn (look in ImgBurn's Help menu).

mmalves Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 That's because they were burned on low quality media, and whoever did it probably had disabled the Verify option. As for burning, if you don't try with Verbatim blanks we'll never know if your burner is good or not. If you've burned Verbatims before you should still have the log (look in ImgBurn's Help menu).
stevenleelightfoot Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 went back to version 2.4 some worked some didnt. here is that log. will put verbertum disc in and burn from file instead of copying disc and post log again I 18:37:59 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! stevenleelightfoot Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 right i reinstalled latest version 2.5 and burned game from file with verbatim dvd+r dl disc. i burned with layer break at 2.4 speed and allowed it to verify the burn afterwards. it came up with burn succesfull. but again when put in x box 360 it came up disc unreadable. now have burned same file in same way on friends computer and it works fine. also have tried my dvd drive in his computer and tried it same way and worked fine so its neither my drive nor my 360. here is log file from burn on my computer I 22:09:14 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! I 22:09:14 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6002 : Service Pack 2) I 22:09:14 Total Physical Memory: 1,037,748 KB - Available: 513,696 KB I 22:09:14 Initialising SPTI... mmalves Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Since it verified fine it means the burn is good. What may be happening is that the burn quality isn't good enough for your x360. Try burning at 4x or 6x to see if it helps, that's 8x rated media after all.
stevenleelightfoot Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 doesnt burning at faster speed make a less acurate copy ? i tried at slowest speed and didint work. thought all x box games had to be burned at 2.4. used 2.4 on friends computer and all his discs works and we have same type of discs. he uses a pioneer 216 i use 217f but have tried my burner in his computer anyway and it works on his. doesnt this mean it not 360 or pioneer drive but something to do with computer itself ??
mmalves Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Newer burners like yours are better tuned for burning at higher speeds, so when you burn a 8x rated media at 2.4x it might be doing a poor job at it. Usually on 8x media it does best at 4x or 6x. Now if you think it's a computer problem (unlikely in my opinion since the verify turns out fine) then you'll need to take it to a technician
stevenleelightfoot Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 right have now tried verbatum discs at 4 and 6 speed and still smae problem says disc unreadable on 360 even though any burned on friends computer are fine. here are all logs i can muster. its driving me crazy why wont it work ?? ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 - Log ; Saturday, 22 August 2009, 17:08:28 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 16:09:47 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 So let me get this straight... you plug your hdd and burner into a friend's PC, burn the image from your hdd to your media using your drive, take the disc home and it'll play fine in your xbox? That makes no sense at all.
stevenleelightfoot Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 hay i know. only difference is his uses slightly different version of windows vista. i can copy games just cant write them from files. although some games it doesnt read entirely saying there damaged or corrupt even though they appear clean and do play in 360. the drive is new and also have nec one aswell which doesnt work either. they both burn single layer dvds fine. have done different speeds different discs different drives different versions of image burns. only thing left i can think of is wiping my drive of windows vista and installing xp. dont know if it will make any difference just think i have exhusted all other things unless anybody can suggest anything else. its just my luck things never seem to just work i always seem to have some problem or other. i purchased new printer and disc drive and game cases and glossy printer paper so that i could save money on games fo me and my little boy and now im broke and still dont work. is there any other software for burning them that might work or is this the only ??
mmalves Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 To burn x360 games you can use any software capable of correctly setting the layerbreak position. Notice, though, that the software doesn't control the burn quality, and that depends on your burner/firmware/media/write speed combination. As a last attempt you could try with the 2.4x Verbatim blanks (MKM-001-00 dye) if you can find them.
jgatz Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Dear All, I am new to this forum but you are truly my last hope...I have a very similar problem to that of the gentleman posting the message before me. Following is the situation: I have an NTSC Xbox 360 with a Hitachi v79 drive. I updated the drive to iXtreme 1.51 and use Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x. I write using ImgBurn with a Layer Break of 1913760 at a speed of 2x (it automatically goes up to 2.4x). The burnt file is a downloaded .iso of Red Faction Guerilla (NTSC). The burner I use is my laptop's Pioneer DVDRW DR-TD08HB. The message I get whenever I try to play the disc is: "Disc unreadable. Clean with a cloth...etc." I wasted many discs before updating the drive to the latest iXtreme however now it has been updated and still it doesn't work. Thus, if anyone has any thoughts on the matter, please let me know so that I can do something about it before wasting even more discs and time. Thank you all! Following is the log of the latest burn: I 23:47:50 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! I 23:47:50 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition (6.0, Build 6002 : Service Pack 2) I 23:47:50 Total Physical Memory: 2.093.276 KB - Available: 1.397.124 KB W 23:47:50 SPTD can have a detrimental effect on drive performance. mmalves Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I 00:49:36 Average Verify Rate: 7.787 KB/s (5.6x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 11.240 KB/s (8.1x) It burned and verified fine, so, provided that the source image isn't defective, then the problem could be with your x360 drive/console, and we can't help with that.
