kaenshine
Hey, I was around here a while ago, having pbs with an asus writer. updated firmware, wrote @4x and it worked. now it's acting up again. I read around here regarding I/O problems, so I bought this lens cleaner cd. it worked on another pc but in mine it just freezes 3 or 4 minutes in. well, I updated the firmware again just to make sure and tried to write another blank (coasted 2 yesterday night). This time imgburn didn't even get at 30% and it crashed on me. Hope it's not the writer, though I kinda suspect it is.. here's the log, both disc info & log: ASUS DRW-1814BL 1.14 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD+R DL Disc Information: Status: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 4,173,824 Free Space: 8,547,991,552 bytes Free Time: 927:32:74 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x DVD
mmalves
Update ImgBurn. Look for updated IDE drivers for your motherboard's chipset/controller, as something is messing up the communication. Is the burner connected at the end of a good 80-wire IDE cable? Is it the master and the only device on the cable?
kaenshine
thanks for the tip. I updated imgburn, the IDE drivers and re-arranged the ide cables so that it's a master on its own cable, will give it another shot
kaenshine
alright, I don't know which one it was, but it works again! I guess that ancient IDE cable had to go, tho. thanks for sparing me the cost of a new writer. Thank you!
