Drogy Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 hey guys. so i updated to 2.5 and so far it looks like a bad move. i tried burning 2 DL disks (verbatim dvd+r dl) with x360 images. here's the problem: there are no errors during the writing process and it completes successfuly but when verifying the disk it can't read after the layerbreak. also, i try to set 2,4x write speed but it goes ahead and ignores me and writes at 4x. here's my log: I 12:07:07 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! I 12:07:07 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 12:07:07 Total Physical Memory: 2,095,532 KB - Available: 1,201,736 KB W 12:07:07 SPTD can have a detrimental effect on drive performance. Movie Junkie Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I 12:08:36 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)W 12:08:40 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 3,324 KB/s (2.4x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x) Welcome to the Imgburn forum Drogy. The reason your disc(s) cannot be written to at 2.4x because it only supports burning at 4x, 6x and 8x. That is why you got the "Write Speed Miscompare" error. Your problem with being unable to verify layer 1 is an issue I've not only read about over the last 4 or 5 months but a friend of mine has experienced as well. Get some Verbatims rated for 2.4x burning (it should state on the box that the disc(s) can be burned at 2.4x to 6x). Make sure the discs were made in Singapore (it will say where they were made on the box label, in small letters). You shouldn't have a problem with these. It appears your burner has the latest firmware so you should be fine here.
Drogy Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) thanks for the reply. i didn't know there was a crappy kind of verbatim dl on the market. i get them in bulk so there's no way to check the box but now that you mention it i do notice that on these last disks i got it does say 8x and on my older ones it sais 2.4x i still have 8x disks and i just downgraded back to 2.4.4 just to check, and i'm now starting to burn the same iso again. will be back with nfo. edit: just finished burning with imgburn v2.4.4.0, same media, everything is fine now. i also changed OPC setting to "ON". here's the log: I 11:50:26 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! If you're purchasing them on a spindle, and the label on the spindle says Verbatim find the bar code on the label. Look to the left of the bar code and you should see an area that tells where the discs were made. If you're purchasing them and there is no way to verify they are Verbatim, other that on the disc, they could be counterfeit. They could also be counterfeit even if there is a label on the spindle. I haven't heard of Verbatim discs being counterfeited but that doesn't mean no one is doing it. Best of luck to you. Let us know how things turn out.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 The ImgBurn version is not the problem here. You guys read into things too much. If there was really an issue with something so common as a simple DL burn, don't you think we'd have found it waaaaay before it was ever an issue for the public release?! All the program does from start to finish is send data to the drive - there really isn't much to go wrong with that!

I told him I felt it was a media problem.
