LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Try burning faster and/or cleaning the lens on your burner with a cleaning disc. You could also try this firmware update: http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1300-fi...p35094.exe.html

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 No because 4x is what you've already tried. Notice that 2.4x is not even possible, hence the drive used 4x anyway. I 14:54:11 Source Media Type: DVD+R DL (Book Type: DVD-ROM) (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) W 14:28:22 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 3,324 KB/s (2.4x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x)
yitmat Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 oh i see i stopped reading half way through i'll burn at 6x and post back
yitmat Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) okay i tried what you asked me to do lightening uk and i tried at 6x but same problem..at 50% it fails verifing I 15:56:46 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! mmalves Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive, and if it doesn't help, then you'll need to try with better media such as the Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks.
yitmat Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 thanks guys im using Verbatim DVD+R DL..3 gone to waste..r.i.p. im going to try 8x and re cleaning the burner..hopefully i get it working i'll post the out come soon
yitmat Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) May my 4th verbatim r.i.p i tried 8x and i cleaned the lens this time instead of getting stuck at 50% it got stuck at 70% I 18:18:10 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! mmalves Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I 18:18:18 Destination Media Sectors: 3,827,520 That disc seems to have been damaged in a previously failed burn Anyway, I think it would be cheaper to get a new burner instead of wasting more Verbatim blanks.

mmalves Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I 19:05:29 Destination Device: [0:0:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A 1.01 (J:) (USB) There's newer firmware for that burner if you want to try (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). Also it may be better to try burning at 4x (or 6x if it becomes available after the firmware update), after all those are 8x rated blanks. Oh, and put ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 back on
KasparP Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Destination Device: [0:0:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A 1.01 (J:) (USB) You need to update your firmware on that drive, try that and try burning it again: Firmware 1.04

I was typing my response before you posted this. But yeah, tell us the results afterward. Now about that other drive, as mmavles said - either clean it or get new media. That drive might of ran out of life, or the lens might be dirty. Also you may have the same issue I did. My drive wouldnt work with certain types of media. You can either get Verbs or just buy a new drive like me.
mmalves Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 You're slick haha! I was typing my response before you posted this. Getting slow, old man?
KasparP Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Also for the first drive you posted try updating the firmware on that also. It's a re-bagged Samsung drive. Now since samsung sucks I cant post you the exact link but go to this site: http://samsungodd.com/eng/ and on the top go to Firmware>Firmware Download and in the search type in "SH-S183L" without the quotes. mmalves Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 There is SH-S183L at FirmwareHQ.com, which is a mirror of all the oficial firmware updates from all different manufacturers. Notice though that the official flasher won't allow you to crossflash your TS-H653L to SH-S183L: if you really want to do this unpack the official flasher with WinRAR/7-Zip and run sfdnwin.exe -nocheck then you'll be able to load the SB03 firmware for flashing

What i mean to ask is if it is safe to do so and how will it effect my drive once it changes? Edited September 14, 2009 by yitmat

If your current firmware doesn't do what you need it to do, whats the reason that stopping you? If you do it properly(make sure there is no media inside) everything will work fine. Just follow the instructions on the flasher. Did you try updating firmware on that other drive? How did the burning go?

Now my beloved verbatims..you may rest peacefully. Just remember folks..UPDATE your firmware before you end out of precious verbatims like moi.
