ajhill Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Have been getting the dreaded blue screen shutdown after backing up data on my Dell Inspiron recently so decided to look for answers. Syncback is the utility I use to backup, a great tool, and that suggested I need to update my sonic software. This I did and hey presto now I can't do anything with the drive. So I've uninstalled all the sonic software and went looking for alternatives, which brings me here. I hope this is the right place. In order to run a backup/sync to DVD RW the disc has to be formatted udf. The imgburn website says something about the software being compatible so I downloaded etc. There's no problem in burning a file or folder to the disc, but the backup software can't get access. I think it's something to do with udf formatting. Can anyone help? thanks in advance Tony
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 You want something that formats (as in 'prepares') a disc with an empty UDF file system so the OS can use it like a hdd - that's not what ImgBurn does when it talks about UDF.
