Amiga Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 A patch to run ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter directly off of a USB Flash Drive. I am requesting this because I use Internet cafes around the world that are locked down, but these PCs usually allow executables (EXE) to be run from a flash drive.
Amiga Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 (!) I need to get off my ass by the by and donate to you since I have used your programs so much. I would be happy to buy you a USB flash drive and maybe send you some bribes from Hawaii if that would entice you to make ImgBurn portable. I don't know if you are familiar with the U3 Smart Drive platform ( http://www.u3.com/ ), but perhaps that would make portability of your applications easier. LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 well it would just use the default ones. I can't imagine they lock out the hkey_current_user reg key so it should save them ok too. Export them from home to a .reg file and then import when you get there. In any case, if we're talking about internet cafe's, who cares about custom settings?! You'll do what you have to do and then get out of there.
lfcrule1972 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Mmmmm someone sounds like a pro in the murky world of Internet cafes !!!
spinningwheel Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 do what you have to do and then get out of there. lfc...I agree, sounds like a pretty experienced statement from one so young........
lfcrule1972 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Well I think the boss has been caught out before !!!
grampaw Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 lol I've never even seen an internet cafe! And I can't count how many internet cafes I've seen - major cities in Europe, Asia, South America, and about 20 places in Mexico. But then I'm not in them to use ImgBurn, rather to check/make travel reservations and keep up with e-mail. Strangest place - Cairo, Egypt where water pipes are next to the computers. Can't remember how we traveled before the internet...
lfcrule1972 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 A mate of mine travelled the far east a few years ago and used them to send back updates on his progress - I honestly didn't believe the descriptions of their locations until he returned and I saw the photos !!
ol'lo Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Instead of registery, why not use an ini file for storing settings or at least give an option like "Media Player Classic" to choose between registery or ini file. This way it can used on USB Drives as well.
dontasciime Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I thought Internet Caf?s where a cheap place to get a Computer to go, How wrong was I
lfcrule1972 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 True - you have to run like crazy when you take the PC you want !!!
ol'lo Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 That's already optional. Sorry for my ignorance LUK, but where is it?? I've scaned all the options but was unable to find it.
ol'lo Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Oops....sorry. Overlooked it. Yeah its there. Could you please provide this option in general settings (just a tick box) so that users like me won't bother you again. And thanks again for the great app.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 It's purely a CLI argument and none of those are mentioned within the GUI - nor will they be I'm afraid. Ini's are a pain when it comes to program updates and so I actually prefer it when people don't use them.
ol'lo Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Although I don't know how it create problems in program updates (...and that shows how much of development I've "actually" done) but atleast its there if someone needs it.
