jcleav Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 My computer was running very poorly as of late, and i decided to reformat it. On top of everything else going wrong with the computer, I started having problems burning dvd-dl's...i've tried burning multiple iso's, but I have the same problem everytime. I tried to update my dvd-r firmware, and i downloaded the newest imgburn, but i'm still having the same problem. I try to burn, it says power calibration error, i hit retry, it starts burning, gets to 1% then fails. here is the log. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU! ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 - Log ; Wednesday, 07 October 2009, 12:58:52 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 12:53:59 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! mmalves Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Try a lens cleaning disc on that burner. You might also try burning at 6x. If none of that works then your burner is dead.
jcleav Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 i just got this drive like 3 months ago after having problems with my old one...you really think it could be dead already??? i tried burning at 6x with the same result.
mmalves Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 If it can't burn the best dual-layer media available on the market then, in my book, it's dead. It could very well be due just to dirt on the lens, and that's where the lens cleaning disc comes in.
jcleav Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 it successfully burned an audio cd on a cd-r...does that mean it's not dead??
Cynthia Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Different laser approaches for burning cd versus dvd discs. I've had several drives that could burn cds - but failed on dvds.
